Goals of EcoPartnerships

Establish multiple cooperative relationships between Chinese and US partners that facilitate the sharing of best practices of economic growth and environmental sustainability between partners.

Identify synergies where U.S. and Chinese regional and local governments, enterprises, associations, and other sectors of society can, together, more effectively manage the challenges of energy and environment.

Implement targeted pilot programs for sustainable economic growth by leveraging existing initiatives or creating new programs. For the initial period, such programs may include, but are not limited to:
- structural adjustment and modernization of industries;
- building, renovation and reconstruction of intensive and human-oriented eco-cities (counties)
- clean and efficient regional transportation and energy systems
- protection
- restoration
- scientific research
- ecological monitoring and assessment of forest
- wetland and natural reserves
- sustainable development combining ecological protection and the development of local economies
- programs for improving energy efficiency in specific types of enterprises (e.g. power, cement, iron & steel, petrol chemistry, automobile and railway)
- effective models for developing economies in ecologically fragile and underdeveloped regions
- and transformation of resource-depleted cities
Focus on the development and utilization of new energy efficient and environmentally friendly technologies, and the implementation of creative, pro-environment policies.

Facilitate next generation economic development, and create new economic opportunities and jobs in both countries.
Promote capacity building through exchanges of managerial and technical personnel.
