| Goals of EcoPartnerships |
Establish multiple cooperative relationships between Chinese and US partners that facilitate the sharing of best practices of economic growth and environmental sustainability between partners.
- Identify synergies where U.S. and Chinese regional and local governments, enterprises, associations, and other sectors of society can, together, more effectively manage the challenges of energy and environment.
- Implement targeted pilot programs for sustainable economic growth by leveraging existing initiatives or creating new programs. For the initial period, such programs may include, but are not limited to:
- structural adjustment and modernization of industries;
- building, renovation and reconstruction of intensive and human-oriented eco-cities (counties)
- clean and efficient regional transportation and energy systems
- protection
- restoration
- scientific research
- ecological monitoring and assessment of forest
- wetland and natural reserves
- sustainable development combining ecological protection and the development of local economies
- programs for improving energy efficiency in specific types of enterprises (e.g. power, cement, iron & steel, petrol chemistry, automobile and railway)
- effective models for developing economies in ecologically fragile and underdeveloped regions
- and transformation of resource-depleted cities
- Focus on the development and utilization of new energy efficient and environmentally friendly technologies, and the implementation of creative, pro-environment policies.

Facilitate next generation economic development, and create new economic opportunities and jobs in both countries.

Promote capacity building through exchanges of managerial and technical personnel.
