Goals of EcoPartnerships
  • Clipart: Picture of US and ChinaEstablish multiple cooperative relationships between Chinese and US partners that facilitate the sharing of best practices of economic growth and environmental sustainability between partners.
  • Identify synergies where U.S. and Chinese regional and local governments, enterprises, associations, and other sectors of society can, together, more effectively manage the challenges of energy and environment.
  • Implement targeted pilot programs for sustainable economic growth by leveraging existing initiatives or creating new programs. For the initial period, such programs may include, but are not limited to:
    • structural adjustment and modernization of industries;
    • building, renovation and reconstruction of intensive and human-oriented eco-cities (counties)
    • clean and efficient regional transportation and energy systems
    • protection
    • restoration
    • scientific research
    • ecological monitoring and assessment of forest
    • wetland and natural reserves
    • sustainable development combining ecological protection and the development of local economies
    • programs for improving energy efficiency in specific types of enterprises (e.g. power, cement, iron & steel, petrol chemistry, automobile and railway)
    • effective models for developing economies in ecologically fragile and underdeveloped regions
    • and transformation of resource-depleted cities

  • Focus on the development and utilization of new energy efficient and environmentally friendly technologies, and the implementation of creative, pro-environment policies.
  • Facilitate next generation economic development, and create new economic opportunities and jobs in both countries. 

  • Promote capacity building through exchanges of managerial and technical personnel.
